What are binaural beats?
Discover how two separate tones can produce a perceived beat.
Each ear receives a different pure tone through stereo headphones. For example, 200 Hz on the left and 210 Hz on the right may create the perception of a 10 Hz rhythmic fluctuation. The 10 Hz beat is not a separate acoustic tone in the room.
This perception is a phenomenon of auditory processing. It does not automatically mean that the brain enters a matching mental state.
